Explanation |
Rhyme |
My acrostic poem uses the aabb rhyming scheme. It helps the reader enjoy the poem
more as it helps in the rhythm of the poem. I believe the rhyming also helps
the reader remember the poem better. |
Irony |
You would expect that getting irritated with people would help
separate people, but since they are friends they will not be able to stay
away from each other very long. |
Assonance |
The assonance in this poem makes it sound more musical and rhythmic
as well as emphasizes those two words. |
I am your friend – Free
Verse
When
you are sad, I will be your other half
When
you are scared, I will make you laugh
When
you are stressed, I will help you cope
When
you are in despair, I will give you hope
When you are alone, and can’t see the light
I’ll be there, making things right
You might think you’re alone, lost in a maze
But I’ll be there, despite the delays
Around the corner, I have a great friend
I believe true friendships never end
There might be hiccups here and there
But you’ll always be my friend I swear
Life is one
amazing yet hectic race
But to spend it with you is a true grace

Explanation |
Parallelism |
The parallelism in my poem is mainly used to emphasize and add
rhythm. I want to emphasize what a true friend does for another friend. |
Metaphor |
Life is being said that it is a very fast and wild race and it is
not. This comparison tells the reader that life is short and to maximize the
amount of fun you have in it you should spend it with a friend. |
A Good Friend - Haiku
Good Friends Live For You
They Love
You for Who You Are
And Help You When They’re Able
Poetic Device |
Explanation |
Understatement |
I state that friends live for you, but obviously that is not true and
is an understatement. People live for much more, but it helps the reader
reflect on their own friendships and makes them assess what they would do for
their friends. |
Consonance |
The consonance helps the poem flow as well as emphasizes these words. |
Knowing You - Limerick
When I was first getting to know you well
I heard the ring of my doorbell
I thought it was you
But indeed that was not true
It was a Jehovah's Witness talking about hell
